Music isn’t just our gift, it’s our SERVICE!

OUR MISSION

BIV is committed to supporting and strengthening communities in need. Through creative engagement we build a sense of community in safe and empowering spaces for individuals to be vulnerable, to heal, and rebuild. Our nation-wide innovative and collaborative music and performing arts programs serve marginalized and overlooked communities in need. TONY® honored Broadway Inspirational Voices is uniquely positioned to access a diverse pool of creative professionals from Broadway and beyond who seek meaningful outlets to use their hearts and talents to provide mentorship and inspiration.

Allen René Louis, Artistic Director, Broadway Inspirational Voices

“Over the course of nearly 3 decades, through educational programming and live music, Broadway Inspirational Voices has seen the positive impact our work brings. Since 1994, service has been the root and foundation of our existence. In the midst of an epidemic, by way of rhythms, melodies and lyrics, it was our intention to heal, inspire, and bring hope to a community in pain."

-Allen René Louis, Artistic Director, Broadway Inspirational Voices

OUR PROGRAMS

BIV works with established institutional partners that connect with populations who can benefit from our customized programs and teaching artists. By partnering with Ronald McDonald House - New York, Covenant House International, the New York City Department of Corrections, and more, we effectively reach these communities. BIV values these long-term partnerships and our shared commitment to serving these communities and individuals.

BIV @

Our “BIV@” Programs are unique, customized, year-round programs for organizations who seek to engage and educate their community through The Arts. “BIV@” Programs feature a diverse range of Teaching Artists handpicked by BIV for workshops catered to each partnership. Our extensive roster of Teaching Artists includes those with backgrounds in Broadway, Film & Television, Music, Dance, Design, Fashion, Music Production and many other areas of expertise.

Songs in the Key of Me!

BIV’s signature program, “Songs in the Key of Me!” created by Founder Michael McElroy brings together a Broadway composing team with pediatric cancer patients and their families from Ronald McDonald House-New York to create an original musical composition. Each individual program concludes with a concert or video featuring the personalized song(s) performed by members of BIV, the Broadway community, or the composer/lyricists themselves.

BIV Mentorship Program

BIV Mentorship Program: Choirs is an opportunity for the next generation of community and professional choirs to be mentored by Grammy nominated  and Tony Award recipient, Broadway Inspirational Voices. BIV Teaching Artists and BIV program Mentors will explore the history of Gospel music while coaching  participants in the styles and techniques used in contemporary and traditional gospel music.

Special Initiative: Criminal Justice Initiative

Partnering with New York City Department of Corrections’ Rikers Island, BIV developed a performing arts program to engage with currently detained persons. Determined to help bring inspirational music to the Rikers Island population, BIV has created and distributed virtual programming and we are eager to spread this digital content for the benefit of additional interested correctional centers.
